OUR MISSION

We believe that the only sensible and humane solution to the tragedy of pet over-population is to reduce the numbers of unwanted animals being born each day -- in turn, decreasing the numbers of animals euthanized in our community and region.  We further believe that initial emergency treatment for critically ill or injured animals should not be out of reach for caregivers who are struggling financially.

Due to the loss of our primary source of funding, we have suspended both our Spay/Neuter Assistance Program and our Emergency Medical Assistance Program through 12/31/09. We regret having to take this step, but it allows us to look to the future, to make organizational changes, and to decide how we want to move into 2010 in a way that will best assist the animals [and their caregivers!] of South Hampton Roads. We will be hosting public meetings in the fall to solicit input and assistance from the community. If you'd like to be contacted about these meetings, please send us an email.

In the meantime, contact the Norfolk SPCA, the Virginia Beach SPCA, Chesapeake Humane Society, or Peta for spay/neuter assistance.
